Short CV / Bio of Patrick Khoo
Patrick Khoo is currently the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Digital Artifact, a technology company focused on providing backup and recovery solutions. Digital Artifact’s flagship product is the DataSaver appliance, a ground-breaking network-based appliance that performs backup and recovery for computers and servers in an extremely simple and straightforward manner. It includes advanced technologies such as Continuous Data Protection, Bare Metal Restore and automated Intelligent Disk Space Management but tightly integrated to form a simple, one-stop solution for companies. The DataSaver’s users include government agencies, large multi-nationals and small businesses throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Previously, he worked for the Data Storage Institute (DSI) of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). There, he was tasked by the Institute Director to set up a new R&D department to pioneer efforts to develop world-class competencies in networked storage technologies, which had not yet been explored in Singapore. Under the Network Storage Technology Division, he created and led a team of research engineers in the new Modular Connected Storage Architecture Group. His team went on to invent the innovative and new HyperSCSI Ethernet-based network storage protocol and demonstrated both high performance and diversity in application.

Work aside; he is an active member of the Singapore chapter of Mensa, serving as the President and is involved in promotional, organisational and development work for the Society and was the organising chairperson of the first ever International Forum on Intelligence held here in Singapore in October 2000. Patrick is also a Certified Novell Engineer and a life member of the Golden Key National Honour Society.
